Yoga 911 Training Mission
‘The time has come for First Responders to respond to themselves’ Men and women who are employed as First Responders in any community often see more violence, death, and destruction in one day than many witness in a lifetime. Because they are called to ‘respond to, ‘act for,’ and ‘save’ others, First Responders may forget that they are human beings (not human ‘doings’) and need to respond to themselves as well. As the effects of stress and trauma play out in their everyday lives, it must be acknowledged that their health and well-being are at stake. The training mission is to bring more awareness of the need for self-care and tools of resiliency and repair to this under- served population and their communities through immersive training in yoga practices and education in the management of stress and trauma. We hope to inspire good health and job performance in these civil servants along with professionals who would serve them. Who is this course for and how can they benefit?
First Responders and their adult family members who want to gain awareness of specific job stresses/illnesses and their physiological and psychological effects as well as how to practice yoga methods help manage ‘dis’ease and maintain job security/wellness. Personnel of Police, Fire, EMS, Medical staffs who are honing their support skills and wanting to bring awareness of yoga benefits to their peers/co-workers/selves Yoga teachers who want to become certified in a safe, effective system of teaching yoga to trauma-sensitive populations and gain a better understanding of their physical and emotional needs. They will instruct during training and complete extra work Mental health professionals who are wanting to learn yoga practices themselves so they can better steer their clients to a path of repair and resiliency. Fitness professionals who are seeking certification in a mind/body venue Anyone who is effected by trauma, anxiety, fear, depression, PTSD (acute stress) and is seeking to better themselves and feel better about the world around them.
